Building Better Systems and Stronger Teams: NYD’s Season of Learning, Leadership and Local Art

While the year edges closer to summer, Norman Yates Distillery has been busy behind the scenes strengthening systems, developing talent, and showing up for the local creative community.

This past month brought together two of NYD’s passions: Operational excellence and meaningful connection.

From logistics workshops that sharpened our internal processes, to serving welcome drinks at a vibrant Central Coast art exhibition, November has been a month of growth and collaboration.

Here’s a look at everything that shaped our journey.

Logistics Workshops with Haydn: Raising the Bar on Operational Excellence

At NYD, we believe great spirits don’t just come from great distilling, they come from great systems. That’s why ongoing learning is a core part of our culture. This month, Haydn led a series of hands-on workshops focused on one of the most critical areas of production: Logistics.

Key Learning Areas:

  • Smarter inventory management to increase efficiency and improve forecasting
  • Efficient batching and bottling workflow to support rising demand
  • Quality control checkpoints designed for consistency and speed
  • Streamlined stock movement systems that support both production and distribution

These workshops weren’t just about improving processes, they were about empowering the team. By strengthening logistics, we strengthen every part of the distillery, from production to customer experience.

Creativity Meets Craftsmanship

One of the highlights of November was NYD’s participation in:

“FREEDOM. CONNECTION. BEAUTY.”,  the solo exhibition by artist Izabela Sajdok

Hosted at Heart Space Copa, the night brought together local artists, creatives, community leaders, and supporters of the arts and NYD was honoured to craft and serve the welcome drinks for the event.

The Night in Detail:

  • Guests were greeted with freshly-made cocktails using NYD and Steinbok spirits
  • Gavin and the team personally served drinks, creating a warm, interactive experience
  • The atmosphere buzzed with conversation, colour and celebration
  • It was a meaningful blend of art, flavour and community connection

The event reminded us why local collaborations matter, they bring creativity to life and create spaces where stories, passions and people come together.

Good Drinks, Good Learning, Good Company: NYD’s November in Review

From strategic learning to community engagement, this month captured what NYD stands for:

Growth – in skill, leadership, and operational excellence
Craft – in the quality and care we bring to every bottle
Connection–  in supporting art, creativity and meaningful local events

As we step toward summer, NYD remains committed to crafting spirits with intention, creating learning opportunities for our team and showing up wherever culture and community intersect.

The season ahead is looking bright and we can’t wait to continue raising the standard, one small improvement at a time.
